When termites are busiest in Mississippi

Formosan swarmers appear late April through June a few hours after sunset; native eastern subterranean swarm during the day from mid-February to mid-May (Mississippi State).

Mississippi State advises maintaining an active contract with a pest management company, including a soil-based treatment (liquid or bait) with annual inspection, and keeping lights low at night during Formosan swarm season. Formosan carton nests above ground can break soil contact and undermine soil-only treatments.
